XOXOMissP WEEK 1: So i will start off some fun facts on health and beauty!!!

My first week discussion...i will be talking about the health and skin benefits from a fruit,  you might not know about that has high Antioxidant agents: Common Fig (Ficus Carica) 無花果.

Every week I will try to update on new fun facts to share with everyone.
This week I have something to share about protecting your skin from free radical the best is have antioxidant to do that for you, from damaging your proteins and DNA from the harmful environment we encounter.

What kind of fruits that has antioxidant you wonder?
Well, this fruit is pretty special is called Common fig.

Figs are an ancient plant and are mentioned in the Bible and the Qur’an.
The fig is native to western Asia and was later transplanted to the Mediterranean area. Areas in which the fig has been cultivated include Europe, North Africa, England, Mexico and the United States. The fruit is 3–5 centimetres (1.2–2.0 in) long, with a green skin, sometimes ripening towards purple or brown.
Besides all that, lets get to the important part about Figs.

Figs are considered a functional food; they have health benefits beyond the nutrition they offer. Figs are one of the highest plant sources of calcium and fiber. Dried figs are richest in fiber, copper, manganese, magnesium, potassium, calcium, and vitamin K, relative to human needs.
They have smaller amounts of many other nutrients.
Figs have a laxative effect and contain many antioxidants like phenols, which are antioxidants that may help with weight loss and help to protect against cancer and heart disease.
They are good source of flavonoids and polyphenols including gallic acid, chlorogenic acid, syringic acid, (+)-catechin,(−)-epicatechin and rutin.
In one study, a 40-gram portion of dried figs (two medium size figs) produced a significant increase in plasma antioxidant capacity. Of all the common fruits, figs are the highest in overall mineral content and are an excellent source of both soluble and insoluble fiber.

Fruit is an important part of a healthy diet but just remember Do not eat too many figs they have high in potassium, calcium, iron and Vitamin K. Which can cause numbness or tingling in the extremities.
