Nut of the week that has great moisturizing benefits for skin and hair

This week I will be discussing about one of the nuts that we have as an ingredient on our Sun Protection Formula Lip Balm is called Jojoba oil.

What beneficial factors of this ingredient so important?

Well, Jojoba oil is extracted from seeds of the jojoba plant, scientifically known as Simmondsia chinensis, which are indigenous to southern United States and northern Mexico. Pure jojoba oil has a bright, golden color whereas processed jojoba oil is clear and transparent.  It has a high shelf life and can be stored for long periods as it is a relatively stable liquid. It does not oxidize easily and will not turn rancid compared to other oils because it does not contain triglycerides, unlike most other vegetable oils such as grape seed oil and coconut oil.

Jojoba oil is non-toxic, non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic. This means that it will not clog pores and will not cause any allergic reactions. It is also not an irritant, so it can safely be used around the eyes  and on the skin. In addition to that, it does not cause a greasy feeling when used on the skin like other oils do.

Which topically used to treat acne, scaly skin disorder, chapped skin and sunburn.
Usually you can find jojoba in lotions, shampoo, body oils, and makeup

The waxy cuticle is the basis of non-occlusive moisture control in most plants. Its array of epicuticular wax esters is very similar to jojoba wax esters. The stratum corneum is the basis of non-occlusive moisture control in people. Its array of epidermal wax esters is very similar to jojoba wax esters.

What makes it so unique compared to other seed oils is that jojoba oil is structurally and chemically very similar to the human sebum produced by the sebaceous glands in our skin because sebum is also largely comprised of wax mono esters. In most cases, it can act as a substitute while giving similar or added benefits compared to sebum.

Jojoba is likely safe to use durning pregancy and lactation, but may cause reastions in hypersensitive individuals.

It contains healthy fatty acids, Vitamin An and E, amino acids, and natural preservatives. Vitamin E is well known for promoting healthy and clear skin. Jojoba oil is an antioxidant and protects you from the damaging effects of free radicals, which is believed to contribute or cause various chronic diseases like cancer. In fact, it can also be antibacterial useage, to protect, kill and stop the reproduction of Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans when they come in contact with jojoba oil.

 Benifits of Jojoba Oil:
    *  Provides all day moisturization it doesn’t evaporate like water based moisturizers can.
    * It is theorized, but not yet proven, that because jojoba oil is so similar to human skin oil, it can "trick" the skin into thinking it has produced enough oil and thus balance oil production.
    * Very stable, does not become rancid or lose antioxidants even after long periods of storage.
    * Spreads well and absorbs well.
